Sandhills FC and the Optimist Club come together to off a new development recreational
soccer program for players in the Southern Pines Area...
SFC and the Southern Pines Optimist Club will be kicking off their new Development Soccer
Program for U4-U7 players on March, 27 2010. The program will be in corrolation with the SFC
Recreational Programs that are currently offered in Carthage with Moore County Parks and
Recreation and the Seven Lakes Recreational Department. The league will take place at the
newly renovated Optimist Field behind Southern Pines Elementary School.
"The intention of Sandhills FC, in partnering with the Southern Pines Optimist Club, is to
bring an up-and-coming organization like SFC and a well-established and highly thought
of organization like the Optimist Club together to offer another outlet for children to enjoy
sport.", said Sandhills FC Executive Director Todd Abbey. "It was an easy decision when you
look at what the Optimist Club was able to do with their Football Program. The ability to reach
kids of all backgrounds and give them an opportunity to use soccer as an alternative to other
lifestyles is a great responsibility, and the Optimist Club is one of the best in this area."
