Sandhills FC is excited to announce the arrival of the Carolina RailHawks to the Sandhills area.
The Carolina RailHawks, the Triangle’s professional soccer organization, will make a trip to the
Pinehurst/Southern Pines area in March that will include a soccer clinic put on by RailHawks
coaches and players and an exhibition game against the University of North Carolina men’s soccer
team, which is fresh off their second straight NCAA College Cup appearance.
The RailHawks will host a clinic available to all players interested in joining them for a night of skills
training. The cost of the clinic will be $25. In addition to the clinic, each player will receive a RailHawks
T-shirt and one ticket to the exhibition match the following night. General admission to the
RailHawks/UNC match will be $10 at the gate. Tickets will also be available for pre-order online. The
match will kick off at 7 p.m. at the John Williams Athletic Stadium on the campus of Pinecrest High
School. Following the match, the RailHawks will be available for autographs and pictures.
“It is exciting to have the interest in our area to be able to bring in a game like this,” said Todd Abbey,
director of Sandhills FC. “With the success of the Carolina teams this year, at both the professional and
collegiate levels, we are convinced this will be a great match. The growth of our sport in this area is
gaining momentum, and with programs and organizations like the RailHawks and UNC being less than
an hour away, it helps in the development of interest here, as well as the support of their fan base in
the Triangle area.”
Railhawks Head Coach Martin Rennie states, “We’re looking forward to playing North Carolina, one of
the best college teams in the country, and we’re looking forward to showing new fans what we’re
capable of. We expect that they will be impressed with our style and hope they will begin to follow us
as our regular season gets underway.” Click here for 3/25/2010 Railhawks Clinic Registration
